Pembrey (Welsh: Pen-bre) is a village in Carmarthenshire Wales, situated between Burry Port and Kidwelly, overlooking Carmarthen Bay.
The village is served by bus on routes from Carmarthen and Swansea. Actually located in Burry Port, Pembrey and Burry Port railway station is on the West Wales line with regular services to Cardiff and twice-daily to London. The nearest motorway is the M4. Pembrey Airport has no scheduled services but provides facilities for visiting private and corporate aircraft, including executive jets, Pembrey Airport is one of the most military active civil airport in Britain so PPR is often needed, Pembrey Airport does offer passenger aircraft but only as charter flights, Pembrey is soon to be the newest Welsh International Airport
Pembrey West Wales International Airport (ICAO: EGFP) is located 6 NM (11 km; 6.9 mi) west northwest of Llanelli (9 NM (17 km; 10 mi) south of Carmarthen) in Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, in Wales. It is the home of numerous flying schools.
The airfield is situated within a designated danger area, the nearby Royal Air Force range. It is active during the daytime on weekdays. Pembrey Airport has a LOA with the Royal Air Force to operate commercial flights during their operational hours with prior permission
Pembrey Airport has a CAA Ordinary License (Number P836) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorized by the licensee (Pembrey West Wales Airport Limited). Full Runway and Taxiway lighting to be installed later this year, APAPI lighting already in place on both Runway 22L and 04R. Pembrey Airport is currently undergoing its first runway extension from 805m to 1200m, the extension is currently asphalt and not recommended for official use, the final surface to the extension will be completed by the end of 2010/2011.
EGFP Pembrey West Wales International Airport operates 24/7 and provides fuelling facilities for the MOD, emergency services and civil commercial aircraft.
